哲學專業(yè)書庫的前身是哲學研究所圖書館，與哲學研究所同時成立于1955年。1994年底，院所圖書館合并之后將其劃為哲學所自管庫，從此只保留圖書借閱流通業(yè)務，不再購進新書。
2009年1月16日，作為中國社會科學院圖書館體制機制改革的重要舉措之一，哲學專業(yè)書庫正式掛牌。

佘瑞丹，北京大學哲學學士、哲學碩士，巴黎第一大學（先賢祠索邦大學）哲學博士。博士論文嘗試建構一種全新的，基于笛卡爾哲學給出的形而上學和認識論原則的行動哲學理論。博士期間的主要工作是：從笛卡爾對心靈功能中“主動性”與“受動性”兩個層面的根本區(qū)分出發(fā)，展開其對于“自由決斷”（libre arbitre）問題，“意愿”與“情感”的關系問題，行動的歸屬和責任問題等理論方向的討論，并以此為基礎探索笛卡爾哲學與當代行動理論和身心理論之間的關系。目前主要研究領域為歐洲近代哲學史、行動哲學、心靈哲學。2022年2月進入中國社會科學院哲學所工作，現(xiàn)為助理研究員。
