哲學(xué)專業(yè)書庫的前身是哲學(xué)研究所圖書館，與哲學(xué)研究所同時成立于1955年。1994年底，院所圖書館合并之后將其劃為哲學(xué)所自管庫，從此只保留圖書借閱流通業(yè)務(wù)，不再購進新書。
2009年1月16日，作為中國社會科學(xué)院圖書館體制機制改革的重要舉措之一，哲學(xué)專業(yè)書庫正式掛牌。

《世界哲學(xué)》是國家級哲學(xué)專業(yè)理論刊物，是哲學(xué)社會科學(xué)核心期刊之一，并被列為中文社會科學(xué)引文索引（CSSCI）來源期刊。該刊原名《哲學(xué)譯叢》，創(chuàng)刊于1956年，是國內(nèi)歷史最悠久的外國哲學(xué)刊物。開始為季刊，主要譯載蘇聯(lián)哲學(xué)論文，用《哲學(xué)研究》編輯部的名義編輯，由科學(xué)出版社出版，當時是我國唯一譯載國外最新發(fā)表的哲學(xué)論文和哲學(xué)動態(tài)、旨在推動我國現(xiàn)代外國哲學(xué)研究的刊物。l957年改為雙月刊，為內(nèi)部刊物。1958～1959年底因故停刊。1961年根據(jù)學(xué)部會議精神創(chuàng)立《現(xiàn)代外國資產(chǎn)階級哲學(xué)資料》（月刊）和《哲學(xué)資料》（不定期）。1962年7月，《哲學(xué)資料》和《現(xiàn)代外國資產(chǎn)階級哲學(xué)資料》合并，改名為《哲學(xué)譯叢》（月刊），內(nèi)部發(fā)行，商務(wù)印書館出版。1966年“文化大革命”前夕停刊。1978年復(fù)刊，改為公開發(fā)行，雙月刊。l979～1994年，國內(nèi)外公開發(fā)行。l995年為專刊（一期）。1996～2002年為季刊。2002年改刊為《世界哲學(xué)》至今，為雙月刊，由哲學(xué)研究雜志社出版。發(fā)行量最高時達每期13000余冊。
擔(dān)任過主編或編輯部主任的有：劉及辰、杜任之、涂紀亮、王炳文、郭官義、李樹柏、李河、魯旭東、周曉亮、孫偉平、孟繁紅、陳德中、馮顏利。現(xiàn)任主編劉志明，編輯部主任洪軍。
《世界哲學(xué)》（雙月刊）是專門介紹外國哲學(xué)以及中外哲學(xué)交流的刊物。它刊載國內(nèi)外關(guān)于習(xí)近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想研究、馬克思主義哲學(xué)的重要論文；譯介國外主要哲學(xué)流派的現(xiàn)狀及爭論的主要問題，以及有關(guān)邏輯學(xué)、倫理學(xué)、美學(xué)、哲學(xué)史、科學(xué)技術(shù)哲學(xué)問題等論著；報道外國哲學(xué)界動態(tài)，提供有價值的哲學(xué)資料。
該刊根據(jù)學(xué)科特點設(shè)有不同的欄目：康德哲學(xué)研究、維特根斯坦哲學(xué)研究、海德格爾與基督教神學(xué)、德國古典哲學(xué)、西班牙哲學(xué)、古希臘和羅馬哲學(xué)、猶太哲學(xué)、阿拉伯哲學(xué)、東亞哲學(xué)、印度哲學(xué)、俄羅斯哲學(xué)、中世紀哲學(xué)和邏輯學(xué)、法蘭克福學(xué)派、法國后現(xiàn)代哲學(xué)、分析哲學(xué)、宗教哲學(xué)、西方政治哲學(xué)、倫理學(xué)與道德哲學(xué)、現(xiàn)象學(xué)研究、實用主義哲學(xué)、學(xué)術(shù)訪談等。
每個單月第2日出版。每冊大16開本160面，單價50元，全年300元。國內(nèi)外公開發(fā)行，全國各地郵局均可訂閱。郵發(fā)代號：2-202，國外代號：Q1432。
World Philosophy (bimonthly) is a periodical which introduces foreign philosophy and the communications of Chinese and foreign philosophy. It includes the important papers of Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Marxist philosophy; translations of phenomena and issues of foreign philosophical schools in mainstream, of the papers of logic, ethics, aesthetics, history of philosophy and philosophy of science and technology, and reports of foreign philosophy in order to provide essential sources.
In accordance with characteristics of subjects, this periodical arranges various programs: Study of Kant, Study of Wittgenstein, Heidegger and Christian Theology, German Classical Philosophy, Spanish Philosophy, Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy, Jewish Philosophy, Arabic Philosophy, Indian Philosophy, Japanese Philosophy, Russian Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy and Logics, School in Frankfurt, Post-modernism Philosophy in France, Analytical Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Western Political Philosophy, Ethics and Moral Philosophy, Phenomenology, Pragmaticism, Academic Trends and Reports of Conferences.
This periodical is published in the second day of odd number month. Its size is 16k folder that contains 160 faces, whose price is 50 Yuan per every issue, 300 Yuan a year. The publication is at home and abroad which can be subscribed in any post office across China. The post office subscription code is 2-202, the code oversea Q1432.
